This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay
over during adverse weather events.
Cherry Hospital A Place of Hope, Care, and Recovery The primary purpose of the position is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff, in all Cherry buildings, and refrigeration equipment for food storage.
This is accomplished by operating and performing the necessary maintenance/repairs to chillers, air conditioning units, boilers, heat exchangers, coolers, freezers and related components.
To supervise and produce the documentation associated with supervisory duties for three (3) HVAC Mechanic employees.
The NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, with approximately 18,000 employees.
DHHS manages the delivery of health- and human-related services for all North Carolinians, especially our most vulnerable citizens – children, elderly, disabled and low-income families.
Cherry Hospital A Place of Hope, Care, and Recovery Cherry Hospital (CH) is a State-of-the-Art psychiatric hospital located in a beautiful rural area of Goldsboro, NC.
Although rural, Cherry Hospital is convenient to the Triangle Area (Raleigh/Durham) and the coastal region of the state.
It is about an hour's drive to the heart of Raleigh or the beautiful coastal town of New Bern.

Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following: Considerable knowledge of the design & operation of centrifugal, reciprocal, screw & absorption chilers.
Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, & equipment used in the maintenance & repair of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
Knowledge of electricity sufficient to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical control circuits.
Considerable knowledge of the installation, calibration, & adjustments of pneumatic (air operated) controls.
Physical Requirements: Heavy work up to 100+lbs; Wear/use respirator as needed Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and up to three years of journey level experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution and control systems including one year at the journey level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications Requires current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F.
