Duties
The purpose of this position is to serve as the Outdoor Recreation departments Assistant Director and assumes responsibility for operational oversight of the department in the absence of the Director.
Performs and/or assists in the operation, maintenance and administrative support for ODR activities to include Fam Camp, pool, splash pad, skeet range, Compass Cafe, vehicle storage area, base parks and local AF programs such as R4R and more.
Within established policies and objects will assist in planning, developing, coordinating and conducting a variety if recreational clinics and trips in support of a large outdoor program.
Implements higher-level directives, selects activities and services to be offered in addition to required basic programs.
Schedules, publicizes and promotes various clinics, trips and other activities.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory for state and local agencies.
Ensures all work is accomplished in accordance with AF standards, internal standards set by management, AFI's, OI's, guiding policies, regulates and ensures daily operations run smoothly and efficiently, Provides guidance to employees for work assignments and relays management's instruction in all areas ODR.
Sets the work pace and ops tempo and ensures site materials and tools are available to repair and preform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed.
Ensure the facility is always clean and organized, documents significant occurrences, and opens/closes the facility in accordance with standards.
Supervises a staff of Recreation Aids and Recreation Assistants; assigns and reviews their work.
Plans work schedules, determines performance objectives and rates performance.
Develops budgets, market cost of effective programs and service that meet customer needs.
Implements programs such as trips, tours, activity tournaments, social events, etc, followed by after action and post event financial reports.
Ensure strict staff and patron safety rules and regulation are followed.
Follows EEO principles and environmental requirements.
Responsible for the implementation of cash controls; ensures cash register is cleared daily, financial reports are completed and deposits are accomplished.
Approves financials within SAIS in the absence of the manager, while ensuring separation of duties as required.
Conducts monthly resale inventories and supply orders via P-Card.
Ensures operations are aligned to meet COS and NIAD goals and objectives.
Maintain a system of accountability including inventory, security, and administrative controls for the recreation supply operation.
Research product information for best value, ensure all required sources are used.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Completion if an associates or bachelors degree in recreation management or a closely related field is highly desirable.
Experience with Microsoft software is highly desirable.
The work requires physical exertion and the incumbent must be able to bend, stoop, and lift items weighing up to 40 pounds and must complete a pre-employment physical.
A valid drivers license is required.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquires (MACI).
This is a drug tested position due to the driving requirement IAW AFI-90-508.
The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug us.
Successful completion of a National Agency Check with Inquires (NACI) required.
