Description of Job Duties:
The primary purposes of this position are assisting supervisor with orientation and training new staff, assisting with ongoing training for
team members, tracking, reviewing, and reporting IM program application information and following policy and procedures.
Position
must be available to provide casework consultation and decisions as well as exhibit other leadership abilities.
Position is responsible for
lead casework in the Family & Children Program.
Major functions include selecting case samples for second party review, problem
analysis/identification/resolution, reporting results of analysis, computing team processing time, and assisting with training of new and
current staff.
Position will take, process, and maintain Family & Children cases designated as “relative cases”.
Additional responsibilities include
being available to assist caseworkers with any casework function, assisting supervisor with planning short-term goals and objectives for
the Family & Children Unit and assisting with preparations for hearings.
Position works independently with full support from supervisor
and Income Maintenance Administrator.
The supervisor will randomly sample position’s work to ensure compliance with program
policy and team expectations.
This IMC is also responsible for representing the agency for speaking engagements throughout the
community.
This worker must utilize the online NC FAST Program, Manuals, and DSS Administrative Letters as appropriate.
This employee is
expected to make the final decision in determining eligibility by applying written policy but be able to recognize situations that should
be referred to the Supervisor for clarification.
This worker must provide excellent customer service and maintain accurate
documentation and organized electronic records.
This employee will learn and use programs Compass Pilot and Compass Appointments (Compass Co-Pilot, if issued a DSS iPad) as
required by position to do, but not limited to request leave, schedule/receive appropriate appointments, set up virtual files,
scan/retrieve documents, receive/send tasks.
Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.
) required.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
Two (2) years or more of related experience as an Income Maintenance caseworker
Helpful but not required:
General knowledge of all income maintenance programs
Previous experience interviewing clients or families.
Ability to train employees in new and existing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; ability to understand the needs and
problems of clients/applicants; ability to perform casework functions under and within structured time frames.
Excellent computer skills sufficient to use NC FAST, NC's online case management system, as well as various other search engines
and software programs.
Able to utilize complex automated systems and have knowledge of policies and procedures related to eligibility, determination, and re-
determination.
