Summary
Full-time SHOP OPERATIONS MANAGER needed for SEFA Transportation terminal in Goldsboro, NC, to manage the repair and preventative maintenance program for all assigned fleet equipment and provide proactive support for drivers.
This is an exempt position which involves planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance program to support operational requirements.
Typically, day shift work schedule.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Essential Responsibilities
Supervise the shop staff which includes recruitment, training, and assist with the evaluation of employees.
Work directly with the Senior Manager Field Operations, Dispatch and other shop locations to provide proactive support for drivers, customers, and individual departments.
Promote good morale and teamwork within the maintenance facility.
Attend drivers’ meetings to receive feedback regarding shop operation.
Schedule and prioritize vehicle repairs to meet the operational requirements.
Assist with evaluating the overall maintenance costs associated with all maintenance activities and make recommendations as required.
Assist with cost control by comparing current parts, supplies, and vendor costs with other potential vendors
Provide input to procedural and operational changes within fleet maintenance to reduce costs and/or improve labor productivity.
Respond to safety audits in a timely fashion.
Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods.
Ensure shop tools are in safe working order.
Conduct periodic shop and safety meetings with mechanics.
Review repair orders within the TMT system to monitor the accuracy of preventive and repair requests performed by shop mechanics.
Perform regular and thorough audits of work completed by mechanics.
Evaluate vehicle repairs to determine if work should be done in-house or overseen by an outside vendor.
Ensure that all parts are inventoried monthly to ensure appropriate stock is on hand to meet operational needs.
Collaborate with mechanics to analyze problems and schedule correction.
Ensure that tractors and trailers are properly cleaned to promote a positive corporate fleet image.
Answer breakdown phone calls/emails in a timely manner.
Conduct yard checks to ensure asset availability for operations.
Use PeopleNet and TMT to track PMs and provide reminders to dispatch and drivers.
Schedule shop services as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
General knowledge of ground transportation equipment and/ or maintenance
Effective Verbal, written and organizational skills; Teamwork
Basic knowledge of PC’s, Microsoft applications, Transman, and McLeod, preferred
Motivate others to get the job accomplished

Required Qualifications
High school or equivalent
Leadership experience
Understands standard practices
Prior hands-on experience with heavy equipment maintenance
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of relevant experience.
Class A CDL is a plus!
