Summary:
The Inpatient Clinical Director of Kitty Askins Hospice Center is responsible for the overall operations of the inpatient facility to include ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
Marketing in different areas to ensure beds remain filled at 92% occupancy.
Qualification Requirements Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice nursing in the state of North Carolina Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Management, and Nursing or related health field required Three to five year’s experience as a RN required Supervisory experience required Strong communication skills Experience directing a 24/7 inpatient facility preferred Knowledge of Federal, State, and accrediting body guidelines, rules and regulations as they relate to hospice 1.

) Displays a high degree of courtesy, tact, and knowledge of services provided by the agency in all contact with staff, patients, and visitors.

Manages all facets of the Inpatient Facility: (a) provides leadership, oversight, and guidance to staff so that the facility operates effectively and efficiently; (b) serves as a visionary for the department identifying and recommending innovative methods, processes, and/or services; (c) assures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, and accreditation standards relative to hospice inpatient care (d) participates in quality reviews and mock surveys as directed by 3HC's Quality & Compliance Department; (e) conducts tours of the center and education conferences with prospective patient's families as needed.
(f) Provides assistance for community education and fund-raising for the Inpatient Facility.
(g)Follows up on patient insurance for continued in patient stay (h) writes, revises, and ensures that appropriate staff are educated on policies and procedures for the department and completes at least an annual review of the same; and (i) promotes a positive image of 3HC and supports its mission.

Participates in the development of 3HC's annual strategic plan and budget: (a) gives input on plans and projections for the inpatient facility and 3HC as a whole; (b) takes appropriate action on specific items as assigned; (c) assist with the development of a budget for the department; and (d) makes decisions with due consideration to patient care, financial outcomes, and employee acceptance.

Responsible for review of claims for services associated with inpatient care for KAHC.
Ensures claims are reviewed for payment or denial timely.
6.
Maintains a qualified and reliable work force to satisfy the goals and mission of the inpatient facility and 3HC): (a) provides ongoing oversight and supervision of assigned staff; (b) completes 100% of performance reviews timely; (c) communicates effectively, speaking with and listening to, staff, (d) conducts meetings at regular intervals keeping staff informed of plans, progress, and changes in the department to include IDG meetings every 15 days and 3HC where appropriate; (e) delegates responsibly; (f) develops a plan and works the plan on suggestions derived from the employee opinion survey; (g) monitors the morale of staff and takes action, where necessary, to improve retention, absenteeism, and employee satisfaction; and (h) counsels and terminates staff in accordance with 3HC policies.

Provides supervision and guidance for housekeeping staff, cooks, and clinical secretaries for inpatient services.
8.
Fills job vacancies with applicants that will be a "right fit" for the inpatient facility and 3HC and provides the appropriate orientation: (a) interviews, selects, and hires applicants to fill job vacancies in accordance with EEOC and 3HC guidelines; (b) ensures that new staff participates timely in 3HC's orientation program; (c) orients and trains new staff in accordance with their job description and departmental policies and procedures; (d) ensures that new staff to the department completes timely the job specific orientation outline and office orientation; and (e) provides close supervision so that at the introductory performance review, or prior, a good decision can be made whether to maintain the new employee.

Designs reports and a system of control which helps control costs, labor utilization, productivity, and the quality of services: (a) monitors ongoing financial reports to ensure projected income and actual spending is within budgeted guidelines to include compliance with level of care billing of revenues; (b) recommends changes in marketing and/or program development where negative variances are identified to strengthen department's position and have positive patient satisfaction scores and successful QAPI outcomes; (c) maintains assigned standards for productivity and staffing hours to include overtime; and (d) demonstrates the ability to function effectively during periods of organizational pressure or diminished resources; (e) designs and develops new support programs to support clinical services at the center; (f) ensures 5% volunteer hours are provided annually.

Keeps supervisor informed of activities in the inpatient facility: (a) meets regularly to review current activities, problem solving, attainment of goals, and reports; (b) ensures that supervisor is kept informed of problems and progress in department supervised, and (c) establishes, monitors, and follows-up with supervisor on specific objectives with target dates for completion ensuring the meaningfulness and cost effectiveness of the objectives.

Maintains a clean and safe working environment for self and staff: (a) ensures staff is knowledgeable of and adheres to 3HC safety standards; (b) takes appropriate action on safety issues identified by self, staff, and 3HC's Safety Committee; (c) promotes safety and cleanliness; and (d) ensures kitchen and inpatient facility is always survey ready for unannounced quarterly kitchen surveys and unannounced annually building surveys.
12.
Demonstrates an interest in personal and professional growth for self and staff: (a) attends and participates in workshops, seminars, webcasts to keep abreast of current changes in rules, regulations, relating to job functions and department; (b) does individual reading and research; and (c) recommends educational opportunities for staff and encourages participation.
13.
Demonstrates a willingness to be cost effective in the use of agency resources, the monitoring of waste, and the proper and safe use of supplies and equipment.

Adheres to 3HC's Personnel Policy and performs other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor to promote the successful operations and future growth of 3HC.
