Assistant Replacement Farm Manager

Prestage Farms is looking for an Assistant Replacement Farm Manager, who under the direction of the replacement farm service person, will coordinate in conjunction with and / or independently from the replacement farm manager.
They will serve as a central information point within the department to facilitate the healthy growth of breeder replacements, perform moderately complex technical level work, serve as a member of the breeder team, and perform related duties as required.
This class is characterized by the responsibility to plan, organize, and coordinate breeder replacement operations which involve program specific duties and / or any combination of such services as facility preparation, facility repair / maintenance, and performing the necessary poultry husbandry practices.
This individual will work with other associates and perform a combination of technical and complex breeder procedures.
Responsibilities Establish procedures, perform task and work methods in a manner as to increase work unit effectiveness and efficiency; coordinate work performed in support of the grow out / dark out phase of production; and determine assignment and / or functional responsibility on a daily basis Establish criteria for acceptable work behavior and performance; evaluate each task by comparing work quality to performance standards; and perform the necessary elements to maintain high standards throughout the farm Collect, compile, evaluate, and report department-specific programs or administrative information to the replacement farm service person; oversee quality control programs as well as compiles technical information; and operate within the budgeted guidelines Evaluate projected workload and supply needs in order to control cost and allocate resources; carry out assigned work details and operate within the standard practice of the poultry industry; oversee the general run of the farm; initiate changes and / or improvements; maintain the farm appearance in excellent shape at all times; and work with all relevant parties regarding cost control practices Compile various records and forms to cover such areas as replacement farm operation, growing data / flock history, daily activity sheets, work order forms for maintenance repair, supply inventory list, and poult health status; prepare and issue status reports for the complex manager; maintain all logs that are vital for assessing bird performance Work in conjunction with the replacement farm manager to train and evaluate the performance of new staff members; assign and review work; and act as a technical resource to the department employees as well as the hatchery administrative team Requirements Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license is required Skill in the standard operating procedures and maintenance requirements of farm equipment Shift from farm to farm at weekly intervals ADA Requirements Ability to perform constant walking, bending, and lifting weight in excess of 125 lbs Benefits In addition to very competitive pay employees of Prestage Farms receive: Sick Pay Vacation Pay Holiday Pay 401(k) Plan Medical Insurance Voluntary Insurance options such as Dental, Vision, Etc.
