POSITION SUMMARY: The Supervisor of Accounting is a professional whose primary function is to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial information.
Works closely with Staff Accountants to review processes and provide education and/or make improvements where necessary.
Oversees and performs various accounting functions such as compiling and developing monthly financial statements.
Assists with the organization’s annual operating budget and productivity processes.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required:
Bachelors Degree in Business/Accounting or Associates Degree in Accounting with a minimum of five years progressive experience.
Proficient in the use of keyboard and basic computer applications.
Advanced proficiency in the use of spreadsheet software.
Working knowledge of
statistical methods for analysis, financial accounting systems and procedures, and of cost accounting methods gained through related experience.
Proven
competence in the analysis, interpretation, explanation and presentation of data trends and comparisons.
Preferred: Above plus previous education/experience in accepted accounting principles, principles of budget preparation in a non-profit healthcare setting,
analysis of financial data, reports and financial documentation.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply appropriate principles of communication during interaction with others including department Managers and Directors.
Incumbent must demonstrate competence per the position’s Skills Checklist before being allowed to perform independently.
