Summary
Supervises stockroom activities and three shifts of stockroom employees.
Purchases a variety of commodities, materials, and supplies.
Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions (STOCKROOM) Supervises maintenance stockroom activities and three shifts of stockroom employees.
Assures that stockroom vehicles are kept in proper operating order.
Works out remedies for defective or unacceptable goods.
Works closely with Stockroom Manager and Maintenance Planner/Supervisor on returning discontinued parts and equipment.
Obtains approval from Staff Member on discarding any obsolete or damaged parts or equipment.
(PURCHASING) Places purchase orders for a variety of commodities, materials and supplies.
Purchases at most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, delivery and other factors.
Locates sources of supply, negotiates prices, and reviews reliability of suppliers.
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
Consults departments involved when substitutions may be advantageous, obtains samples, places orders, and follows up on delivery when necessary.
Receives stock requisitions, written requests, drawings, and/or verbal requests for parts.
If cost of item(s) is significant, obtains three quotes from suppliers.
Prepares purchase order for low bid unless there are factors other than cost.
If these factors may influence purchase, obtains approval of a Staff Member.
Reviews stocking and ordering quantities and, with Stockroom Manager’s approval, adjusts quantities.
Obtains information and estimates cost for bill of materials for proposed projects.
Talks with sales representatives and reviews literature and technical publications to keep informed of current trends.
Meets with Accounts Payable on a regular basis to review purchase orders, answer questions and reconcile billing prices with quotes.
Maintains appropriate computerized and paper files on pertinent information.
Maintains areas of operation in a safe and sanitary manner.
Makes effective use of and makes recommendations on physical assets.
Determines that established safety rules, Company policy and good housekeeping are followed.
Other Duties Use mathematical skills (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and equations) in ordering materials, in processing purchase orders, receiving reports and invoices, and in evaluation stocking quantities.
Performs some duties of subordinates in absence of same.
Coordinates with other departments to assure cooperation and timely completion of projects.
Communicates and cooperates with other members of management to maintain productive and harmonious working relationships.
Occasionally drives own or company vehicle in performance of some job duties.
Ensures proper selection, training, evaluation, and discipline of and communication with employees.
Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc.
as appropriate.
Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.
