PRE-K TEACHER Job Description General Statement of Job: To plan, organize, and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their cognitive, physical, and social/emotional development.
Reports to Principal and Preschool Coordinator.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, cognitive, and social development Provide a developmentally-appropriate learning environment where children are free to explore, manipulate, and create Arrange and maintain a safe indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play Plan, create, and implement developmentally-appropriate lesson plans Maintain staff/child ratio and visual supervision of children at all times Monitor children’s behaviors and deescalate inappropriate behaviors using redirection and other developmentally- appropriate techniques; employs strategies to protect students from injury Implement Individualized Educations Programs for children with identified needs Comply at all times with applicable NC Child Care Regulations, NC Sanitation Guidelines, NC Fire and Building Codes, and Lenoir County Public Schools Standards Maintain guidelines set forth by funding source, i.

Communicate regularly with parents regarding children’s educational progress Report all complaints of child abuse, neglect, or improper care to supervisor Maintain positive communication with co-workers to create a professional atmosphere Follow a plan for professional development and demonstrates evidence of growth Carry out non-instructional duties as assigned and/or as needed Additional Job Functions or Assigned Tasks: Coordinate and direct the activities of the Teacher Assistant Perform other related work as required Minimum Training and Experience: North Carolina Birth-Kindergarten Teaching License (or License with Pre-K Add-on) or a degree in Early Childhood Education or related area that will qualify for licensure as a Teacher by North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Minimum of two years teaching experience in a recognized early childhood environment or licensed child care facility Previous experience with Creative Curriculum and Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale preferred Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions: Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move approximately 40lbs.
Frequent stooping, bending, and kneeling are required.
Requires the ability to move quickly in a fast paced environment.
