Minimum Requirements:
An Associate’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science-related fields from a regionally accredited institution is required.
A Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field such as Systems Security, Networking, or Computer Science or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in computer-related topics is preferred.
One to two years of teaching experience and/or work experience in IT Security or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities is required.
Solid understanding and application of networking concepts is required.
Proficiency in disciplines related to cybersecurity including experience in cybersecurity and an advanced understanding of related frameworks, controls, technologies, governance, risk, and compliance is required.
Demonstrated understanding of systems security, hardware, software, networking, storage, virtual and physical servers is required.
Must have good oral and written communication skills.
Must be a self-starter, a team player, and a demonstrated ability to work well with others.
Three years of work experience in any IT-related field and three years of experience in higher education are preferred.
Current industry-recognized certifications (Network+ CompTIA Security+, CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), Certified Ethical Hacker, etc.
) and bilingual in English and Spanish are preferred.
Position Duties:
Teaches a broad range of cybersecurity courses, which may include on-campus and off-campus classes during the day, evening, weekend, and online.
Instructs 18-22 contact hours, prepares objectives, assignments, assessments, grading standards, and attendance policies in accordance with college and department policies; develops course syllabi to be distributed; keeps online courses regularly updated.
Manages the department’s NetLab system and network.
Ensures the classroom environment (seated, online, or hybrid) is appropriate for diverse student learners.
Ensures availability for all students, in the classroom and through distance learning, by maintaining established office hours, offering availability by appointment, and by responding to electronic communication in an appropriate, timely manner.
Maintains and completes accurate records of student attendance and grades as indicated by institutional policy and submits all final reports in an accurate and timely manner.
Remains knowledgeable about the program to deliver accurate and high-quality academic advising.
Develops new courses and/or revises course content and outcomes in the area as needed; recommends appropriate course textbooks, supplies, software, and equipment.
Participates in the IST Department’s recruitment and retention efforts.
Supports the college’s mission, vision, and core values by adhering to all policies, procedures, and faculty guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
