QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
The individual must be appropriately certified and/or licensed in the endorsed area by the State of North Carolina as provided by law.

JOB GOAL: To coordinate and manage a district youth development program and to work closely with school staff, health & human services agencies, community businesses and organizations, parents/families, and students to assure coordination of the community’s resources for the benefit of the students and their families.
REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent of Student Support Services
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies at-risk students according to at-risk factors through collaboration with school administration and school-level student services staff.
Conducts individual/small group supplemental guidance in behavior and academics.
Maintains individual student information and follows-up with classroom teachers to monitor and record student behavior and classroom performance.
Identifies and tracks data patterns/trends for individuals and groups of at-risk students in order to develop personalized action plans for identified students.
Provides interpersonal skills development activities to increase prosocial student behavior.
Provides goal setting and progress monitoring
Schedules positive role models to conduct group presentations toward increasing student interest and motivation in school, and to encourage students to set high expectations for success.
Maintains frequent contact with parents/guardians to positively affect improved home-school relations in dealing with student needs.
Distributes information to parents and students on partnering agencies and summer enrichment opportunities.
Provides professional development to staff members to build staff capacity in the area of working with at-risk students.
Works collaboratively with YDC colleagues to examine data, problem-solve, and continuously improve program services.
Maintains accurate and timely documentation of interactions with students, school staff, parents/guardians.
Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
Must possess the visual acuity to work with data and figures, operate a computer and other office equipment, and perform accounting functions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
Position must possess the ability to deal with school personnel and the public in a professional manner.
