Methodist University seeks an Assistant/Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship for its new School of Medicine that has been established in partnership with Cape Fear Valley Health in Fayetteville, NC.
The School of Medicine is an applicant program with the LCME.
Reporting directly to the Dean, the Assistant/Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship will serve as trusted partner and will oversee the leadership, development, supervision, and assessment of research and scholarship at the School of Medicine through planning, directing, and the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures for research and scholarship impacting students, faculty and staff.
This individual will work collaboratively with the Senior Associate Deans for Academic Affairs, Student Experience and Finance and Administration ensuring that the mission and vision of the School of Medicine are realized.
This individual will require the ability to work as a team leader, team member, and team player and possess superior communication skills and emotional intelligence.
The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree in a health professions field with a strong record of research achievement, including extramural funding, that qualifies them for appointment as Associate Professor or above.
The candidate will have a record of successful leadership in research with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within and across institutions.
Preferred experience with building new programs, research in community health/social determinants of health, working with graduate medical education, and undergraduate/graduate student teaching.

Responsibilities:
Furthers the mission, vision, and goals of the School of Medicine and Methodist University
Serves as an ambassador for the School, the University, and the Health System
Serves as a member of the Deans’ Council
Facilitate research for faculty, students, and staff and integrates research and scholarship into the overall School of Medicine experience.
Working with the department chairs and section chairs, recommend and implement research policies, infrastructure, and capacity of the college.
They will provide leadership in research compliance and liaison with other research committees/offices at Methodist University and Cape Fear Valley Health.
Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders important to the research mission of the School of Medicine.
Oversee compliance with relevant Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) standards and participate in ongoing accreditation activities.
Develop partnership with and coordinate with the Cape Fear Valley Health Graduate Medical Education program and other regional partners in research.
Oversee, and to some extent, teach the elements of the curriculum that pertain to research, research methods, and scholarship.
Experience:
5 years or more of experience, including leadership responsibilities, in a medical school in the area of research and scholarship
